Day Passes are a perfect fit for collaborators that seek out a fast, easy, and - most importantly - secure way to contribute to each other's workflow on a temporary basis. How it works
A Day Pass is a specific user license that provides access with a time limit. Day Passes are shown as Occasional license in the UI and can be provided to those who do not require constant access to your account: to Team Members that seldom participate or to external Non-Team users who should have Editor access to particular boards only. One Day Pass equals 24-hour access to the shared content no matter how many times you log in or out. For example, if a user opens a board at 5 p.m. on February 5, they'll consume a Day Pass. If they open the board at 6 p.m. on the next day, a new Day Pass will be consumed.
⚠️ Day Passes are used only when a user opens a board with Owner or Editor access rights. If you collaborate on a board as a Viewer or Commenter, the Day Passes count stays intact.
Each Day Pass is $3 and will be charged monthly. Day Passes do not expire and will be used automatically each day an Occasional user enters your account boards on which they have editing rights.
On Business and Consultant plans with annual subscription, you will be charged monthly for the amount of Day Passes used, on the same day of the month as the day when you subscribed to Miro. On a monthly Consultant plan subscription payments for Day Passes are charged on the subscription renewal date.
Please note that Day Passes only work with an active subscription (you cannot use Day Passes if you set your subscription to cancel). You can activate or turn off your account's Day Passes (to stop their consumption) with a toggle switch:
- from the purchasing tab (pricing page or direct Upgrade of your team),
- in the Billing section of your Company settings (to get to Company settings, click Company in the top-right corner of Team settings).

If Day Passes are active in your account, each time a Company Admin invites new members, they can choose the type of license for these users - Full (chosen by default) or Occasional (Day Pass). After a user is added their license can also be changed later.
✏️ If you do not see the option to choose a license, please make sure that you activated Day Passes in Billing settings and that you are a Company Admin.

Day Passes also allow you to share boards with external editors without the need to invite them to your team. When inviting an editor to a board, you can choose whether to invite them to this particular board only as a Non-team user or to the team as well. Click Add to this board if you would like to invite the user as an external editor to the particular board.

Members invited by Team admins or non-admin users will be added with a Day Pass.
Company admins can configure invitation settings for different teams. If you wish to restrict the ability of non-admin users to invite users with Day Passes, go to Team settings > Permissions. Set up who can invite new team members - choose Company admins only or Company admins and Team admins. Then disallow non-team collaborators.
⚠️ Note that once you disallow non-team collaborators, the access of all the current non-team collaborators (Viewers, Commenters, and Editors) will be immediately removed.

Managing User Licenses
Admins can always see how many Day Passes were used by each user in the current billing cycle in the Company settings > Active Users tab. A flame icon marks the users who consumed over 5 Day Passes for the last 30 days so the admin can consider switching them to a Full license.

You can switch the license of your active contributors at any time. This is done in the Company settings > Active users.

Please note that for security reasons changing a user's license doesn't affect their access levels - it only changes the way you pay for them. If you convert a Non-team user to Full in the Company settings > Active users, the user is not automatically invited to any teams accessing their content and you will still see 0 in the Teams column next to their name. If the user requires the change in access levels and needs to be a team member, please take an additional step as shown below. Once this is done, the user will get access to team-shared content and will be able to create their own boards in the team workspace.

Deactivating Day Passes
When the admin disables Day Passes altogether, every Day Pass user's access levels will be limited to Comment only.
Please note that if you switch the role of a team member to a Non-team role, the user will still have access to boards they were explicitly invited (shared by email) to and will keep the original rights on those boards thus consuming the Day Passes as Editors. If you'd like to keep Day Passes on and make sure a certain user no longer consumes them, you can:
- convert them to Non-team user in the Company settings > Active users and remove their editor access from specific boards on which they have Editor permissions or
- remove the user from the account in the Company settings > Active users. You will be able to re-invite them to specific boards with Viewer/Commenter rights for free or share your public boards with them.

Occasional users vs. Guest Editors
Day Passes allow you to give editing access to a particular user and revoke their access at any moment, so they are perfect for a short-time work on a specific private project, while sharing boards for public editing is helpful when you'd like to organize a workshop for non-registered Miro users.
