You, the Talent
- Consider wardrobe choices - avoid bold prints, recognizable logos, thin stripes, or pure white Choose solid colors that are complimentary of the background. Make sure you also feel comfortable in what you're wearing!
- Avoid wearing large, visible headphones — small earphones/earbuds are helpful for clean audio. Note: Your computer might also have a great built-in microphone!
Your environment
- Choose a simple background/environment — a blank white or solid-colored wall is ideal, but a thoughtfully styled home office or neutral environment can also set a nice overall tone. Avoid bedrooms, kitchens, or other overly busy or personal environments
- Choose a quiet space, free of audio interference (consider public transit sounds, or city noises), to ensure you can capture clean audio
- Silence all smartphones and devices, and advise anyone in the house that a camera is rolling
- Lighting is very important. It is advisable to place a table lamp directly in front of you to detach yourself from the background and to create even, neutral light across your face
- Avoid shooting with windows or light sources directly behind
- Place the webcam at eye level, if possible. Avoid low/high angles
- On your computer, go fullscreen in Miro. To bring a clear focus on your content, hide the map at the bottom right, and collapse the bottom left toolbar
Content
- Once the space is set, run a video/audio check (record a few seconds) before proceeding, and check framing & video/audio quality
- Avoid umm, uhhs, and other informal connecting words
- We encourage animated, engaged performance, and use of hands - it might feel a bit unnatural, but a more engaged performance will communicate better in the edit
Video delivery
- Ideally, the final video would be 1080p (1920 x 1080)
- Youtube or Wistia is currently the only native supported video formats in the template publishing form
- You can also send your video to miroverse@miro.com, and we can host it for you (video formats: .mp4 or .mov). Due to file size, you may need to use a file-sharing service such as WeTransfer or GoogleDrive
