Space Overview

Every Space now opens directly to its Space Overview: an activity feed that shows you what is going on without opening every board. Miro provisions the Overview by default, so there is no setup. 

The Space Overview is your launchpad and live activity monitor inside your Space.

NOTE: This article describes what you can do from the Space Overview, including AI consumption for some overview actions. To learn more about Spaces in general, including the sidebar and managing your Space, see Spaces.

Your Space Overview is organized to show you recent and statistical activity, including recently visited boards, and Space metadata which you can modify from the overview. An update feed enables you to monitor and post communications to Space members, who can also post their own updates.

TIP: You can also share your Space, or create new content directly from the overview.

Your Space Overview is AI-enabled: 

• Miro AI reads recent activity inside your Space and writes brief, statistical updates on progress and action items, refreshed daily. Daily updates do not consume AI credits.
• You can also generate a narrative summary of all activity in the current week. Summary generations consume two (2) AI credits per summary.

If your organization has Miro AI disabled, then the overview shows only statistical digests of activity inside the Space, not a complete narrative.

NOTE: Space Overview replaces the manual "set as Overview" option. If you previously had a board "set as Overview", then that board is now first in the Space sidebar, and retains all its content and permissions.

Key features 

• Miro AI-generated update cards
  Miro AI provides a daily update on progress and action items directly on the overview feed. To learn more, see Space Overview and Miro AI.
• Prepare a summary with Miro AI
  Optionally generate and share an AI-authored summary of activity inside your Space for the current week. An AI-prepared summary consumes two (2) AI credits per summary. To learn more, see Space Overview and Miro AI and Miro AI reference.
• Write and share updates
  You and any team member with access to your Space can post an update directly to the overview feed, whether a project announcement, a heads-up, or an AI-generated summary.
• Automatic notifications and share updates
  When someone posts an update, Miro notifies teammates automatically. Any update can also be shared anytime. Shared updates can optionally post on third-party platforms like Slack.
• Direct links to your work
  Each update links directly to its source, whether a specific board, widget, or specific change, not only the board in general.
• MCP connectivity
  Your Space Overview is Miro MCP-connected. You can write and edit, query, and trigger, overview updates via MCP. For more information, see Miro MCP Server overview.

Using your Space Overview

Your Space Overview is your launchpad and live activity monitor for all action and content inside the Space. You can modify Space metadata, like emoji and name, share your Space, receive and write shareable updates, and create new content from the Space Overview. 

Change Space emoji and name

You can customize your Space name and emoji to give your Space a unique identity and purpose.

Follow these steps:

1. On your Space Overview, click the emoji, Space name, or description. 
2. Select, or input, your changes to update those fields.
   Your changes are saved automatically.

You can select and update Space metadata from the Space Overview.

Write a Space update 

Space updates appear in the overview feed. You can manually write and share an update for all team members with access to your Space.

Follow these steps:

1. On your Space Overview, click Write an update.
   The update modal opens.
2. Add a title, and write your update.
3. (Optional) Use formatting options on the bottom of the modal to structure your update.
4. Click Post.
   Your update card appears on the overview feed.

Share a Space update

1. In the overview feed, hover over an update card to show the Share update arrow.
   The Share update arrow appears on the right when you hover over an update card.
2. Click Share update.
3. Choose one of the following:
   • Copy link
     The link copies to your clipboard.
   • Notify others in this Space
     All members in your Space receive a notification.

TIP: To delete an update, hover over the update card. The trash icon appears. Click the trash icon to delete the update from your feed.

Prepare a Space summary

You can trigger an AI-written narrative summary for all activity inside your Space during the current week.

Prepare an AI-authored summary of weekly activity and action items inside your Space.

NOTE: An AI-prepared summary consumes two (2) Miro AI credits per summary. For more information, see Space Overview and Miro AI and Miro AI reference.

Follow these steps: 

1. On your Space overview click Prepare a summary. 
   A modal opens and Miro AI automatically generates a narrative summary.
2. (Optional) Click any field to make changes. Use the formatting options on the bottom of the modal to structure your summary.
3. Click Post.
   Your AI-generated summary is posted to the overview feed.

Space Overview and Miro AI

Miro AI enabled

Miro AI operates on your Space overview to provide daily, narrative and statistical updates on all progress, and gives action items, inside the Space. You can review and share AI-authored updates like any hand-written update. 

The Miro AI icon appears next to any AI-authored update.

You can optionally generate an AI-authored narrative summary. These summaries include a description of all activity in the current week, including progress, risks and items to watch, and suggestions for what to do next. Each summary consumes two (2) Miro AI credits.

Daily statistical updates do not consume Miro AI credits.

Miro AI disabled

When Miro AI is disabled for your organization, the Space overview only shows daily updates that give usage activity and statistics inside the Space. You can write your own updates, and share manual or automatic updates from the overview feed.

With Miro AI disabled, your Space Overview shows only activity and statistical updates for the Space. You can still write updates, and share manual or automatic updates.

TIP: When Miro AI is disabled, you and all Space members can continue to write, post, and share updates.
