Skills help you get a finished board faster. A skill is a ready-made set of instructions that tells Sidekick how to build one kind of board well, like a roadmap, a workshop, or a system map. Pick a skill, add a sentence about your work, and Sidekick builds it on the canvas for you.
All skills are available on every plan, and you don't need to turn anything on first. Some features a skill uses, like certain Formats or Connectors, depend on your plan.
This article explains how to find and run a skill. You can start a skill in two ways: from the + menu in the prompt bar, or by typing / to search.
Open Sidekick
At the top of the creation toolbar on the left, click the sparkle icon. The prompt bar opens at the bottom of the canvas. You can work with Sidekick right there, or open it in a sidebar. To hide Sidekick, click the sparkle icon again.
Run a skill from the + menu
- Open Sidekick.
- In the prompt bar, click +. A menu opens with suggested skills and Connectors, followed by Skills, Formats, Connectors, and Brand themes.
- Click Skills. The Skills list opens. Each skill shows its name and a short description.
- Click the skill you want to use. The skill appears as a tag in the prompt bar.
- After the tag, type what you're working on. For example: for the prompt bar codebase.
- To send, click the arrow button. Sidekick starts building the board.
Search for a skill with /

/. - Type part of the skill name. For example, type sys to find Map out a system. Matching results appear as you type.
