Create with AI allows Miro users to automatically generate content on their boards using Miro AI.
How to access Create with AI
The Create with AI app opens from the left toolbar, just above the Creation Toolbar.
✏️ If you don’t see the Create with AI option, your admin may not have enabled it for your team. Reach out to them regarding access.
The Create with AI icon is found at the top of the menu bar
There are three main sections included in the app that allow you to select the type of output you require, a box to input your prompt, and a button to generate a result. When choosing your output, you can select from Sticky notes, diagrams, docs, or images.

Supported widget types
There are four widget types supported by Create with AI: Sticky Notes, Images, Docs, and Diagrams (including Mindmap). Start by selecting the widget you’d like to generate using Create with AI.
When you select the type of widget you want to use, the panel will display relevant prompt suggestions to make content generation easier.

Prompting in Create with AI
The Prompt Input Box lets you input the text that the AI will use to generate content. Depending on the type of widget selected, the input box will show different prompt suggestions. For example, the prompt for Sticky Notes will offer suggestions like ideas, pain points, user stories, or how-might-we’s.
Click on a suggestion to populate the input box with that prompt.
Create with AI can generate prompts for specific use cases
It's recommended, however, to write custom prompts. Use as much detail as possible in your prompts for the best results.
Once you’ve entered a prompt, whether it’s custom-written or a suggestion, click on the Generate button to initiate the AI generation process. Once you press the Generate button, a “Stop Generating” button will appear. You can press this at any time prior to the content being completed to stop generating content (for example, if you would like to make an edit to your prompt).
How AI content is placed on a board
Once the AI has generated content, it will find a suitable spot to place it on the canvas where it won’t overlap with existing content. This helps keep your board organized and clutter-free. You can then move the content to any spot you choose if needed.
Create with AI content from existing content
Context Selection allows users to take existing board content as input when generating Sticky Notes or Docs. This helps reduce the complexity of prompts that users have to write and ensures that the AI is aware of the specifics and key information that should be accounted for in the generated result.
To set context, select any board content you want the AI to take into account.
Board objects can be selected to give Create with AI additional context
⚠️ When using Create with AI, only text will be extracted, not connector lines, shapes, or images.
You will receive a notification if your selection contains unsupported elements. If you want to remove the context, simply unselect the content. Including useful content in your prompt will improve the AI output and generate a more useful result.
For example, after completing a retrospective with your team, you could select all of the Sticky Notes collected during the retro and prompt the AI to “Summarize key takeaways” in a Doc. When you press the Generate button, all of the Sticky Notes will be included as context for the result.
Transform existing content
The Context Menu option allows you to transform existing board content into different types of content, including Docs, Sticky Notes, Diagrams, or Images. A secondary menu for each content type lets you select a predefined prompt.
When you select a content type, the existing content is transformed instantly.
When you have existing content selected, Miro AI can transform it into other objects or perform certain actions on your behalf. For instance, with sticky notes selected, Miro AI can identify key themes or write a research document.
Whenever you have objects selected in Miro, click the Miro AI icon in the context menu and explore the contextual options that are available for you.
