Dictation (Beta)

Dictation, or speech-to-text, enables you to speak your prompt to Miro AI, for example in a Sidekick chat or Flow, instead of typing. To speak your prompt, press the microphone Dictate button in the prompt box. You can dictate for a maximum of two minutes per dictation.

NOTE: Dictation consumes 1 Miro AI credit per dictation. For more information about Miro AI credit consumption, see Miro AI credits

NOTE: Dictation and transcription language defaults to language settings in your Miro profile.

Using dictation (speech-to-text)

The Dictate button is available anywhere a Miro AI prompt box appears. For example, a Sidekicks chat or Flows prompt. Click the microphone Dictate button on the right inside the prompt box. Then speak your prompt.

NOTE: If you are dictating for the first time, then your browser asks you to grant Miro permission to use your microphone. Select your preferences. For more information, see How to allow access to your camera and microphone.

During dictation, a voice animation shows that Miro AI is receiving your dictation, and your prompt appears as text in the prompt box. The microphone button changes to a blue Stop button. You can dictate for a maximum of two minutes per dictation. Each dictation, whether 20 seconds or 2 minutes, consumes 1 Miro AI credit. To end dictation, press Stop.

Optionally, you can review and revise your transcription manually inside the prompt box.

To execute your prompt, click the up-arrow inside the Sidekick prompt box, or in a Flow click Run.

Dictation (speech-to-text) admin controls

NOTE: Dictation is currently rolling out to all paid plans, including Enterprise. If Dictation and the following admin controls are unavailable in your organization, they are coming soon.

Company admins

Company admins can disable Dictation for their organizations.

1. Go to Admin console > Miro AI > Capabilities > Voice > Dictation.
2. Toggle Dictation to the off position.

Team admins

Team admins can disable Dictation for their teams.

1. Go to Settings | Admin console > Teams.
2. Select the team you want to update. The Team panel opens.
3. Click to open the Settings tab.
4. Toggle Dictation to the off position.

NOTE: If Dictation is disabled for the organization, then Team admins must contact their Company admin to change this setting.
