Deleting a label permanently removes it, along with its configuration, from Data discovery. This action can't be undone.
- ✏️ Only custom labels can be deleted. Built-in (Miro-provided) labels can be disabled, but not deleted. If you're not sure whether you want to permanently remove a label, disable it instead. See Disable a label.
- You can't delete a label that's currently used in a classification. If you try, Miro blocks the action until you remove the label from classification. See below.
Delete a label that isn't used in a classification
- Click your profile avatar, and then click Admin console.
- On the left sidebar, click Enterprise Guard, and then click Data discovery.
- Use the Custom filter to find the custom label you want to delete.
- On the Data discovery page, on the Sensitive content detection tab, click the vertical three dots on the row of the label, and then click Delete label.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Delete a label that's used in a classification
✏️ Miro blocks deletion until you remove the label from classification and review the impact. If you try anyway, you'll need to confirm you've completed those steps before the Delete label button becomes available. Confirming isn't enough on its own: if the label is still attached to a classification, Miro won't let the deletion go through until you've actually completed step 1 below.
Step 1: Remove the label from classification
- Go to Classification → Configuration.
- Open the Define auto-classification step.
- Untick the label you want to delete.
- Review the impact shown on the last step, and apply the change if it looks correct.
If the impact doesn't look right, consider replacing the label instead of deleting it. See Replace a label.
Step 2: Delete the label
- Click your profile avatar, and then click Admin console.
- On the left sidebar, click Enterprise Guard, and then click Data discovery.
- On the Data discovery page, on the Sensitive content detection tab, click the vertical three dots on the row of the label, and then click Delete label.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
