Data discovery plays a pivotal role in ensuring robust data security within an enterprise. It covers two capabilities: scanning boards to automate the identification and labeling of Miro boards containing privacy-related data or business-sensitive information, and blocking AI prompts that contain sensitive information before they reach Miro AI.
Sensitive content detection
Sensitive content detection involves the periodic scanning of all the Miro boards in your organization to identify and locate privacy-related information that might be subject to privacy regulations, such as credit card numbers, national ID numbers, driver's license numbers, and banking information, as well as business-sensitive information specific to your organization. By systematically exploring and analyzing your organization's Miro boards, you can proactively identify potential risks associated with sensitive data. Thisn't only helps prevent non-compliance issues but also mitigates risks associated with data sprawl and leakage across your enterprise, without impeding business operations. Once sensitive data is identified, you can explore identified matches using Content Explorer, leverage auto-classification to automatically classify boards based on its nature and importance, and apply risk-adjusted security controls with Intelligent Guardrails. For more information, see Privacy-related data discovery overview.
Sensitive Content admins can also create custom labels to automate the identification and labeling of Miro boards containing information specific to your organization, whether that's privacy-related or business-sensitive, including intellectual property. With custom labels, you can:
- Choose a Category (Privacy-related or Business-sensitive) for each custom label, so it's organized alongside Miro's built-in labels.
- Add keywords, widget types (such as Jira cards or code blocks), or both, to define what a label detects, refining data discovery results for greater precision.
- Manage all labels, built-in, privacy-related, business-sensitive, and custom, together in one unified table, with filters to find what you need.
For more information, see Create a custom label.
Prompt blocking
Prompt blocking prevents users from submitting AI prompts that include sensitive information or recognizable source code to Miro AI. You choose which label categories and code patterns to block at the org level. For more information, see Prompt blocking overview.
