The Trash feature in Miro provides enhanced visibility and control over the board lifecycle. It allows users to remove boards that are no longer needed without immediately losing the data, which supports data retention policies.
This functionality helps minimize Enterprise risk by enabling a balance between automated board deletion schedules and restricting permanent deletion to authorized personnel.
Authorized users have the capability to restore boards if they are deleted accidentally, ensuring that important work is not lost.

Board deletion methods
Miro offers two primary ways for boards to be deleted.
Understanding these deletion methods is crucial for effective board lifecycle management and data governance within your Miro environment.
- Automatic Permanent Deletion
Boards in the Trash are automatically and permanently deleted after a pre-configured period. The default period is 90 days, but this can be adjusted by administrators to 30, 60, or 180 days. This automated process helps in managing data according to specific retention policies. - Manual Permanent Deletion
Board owners or users with administrative privileges can choose to manually delete a board from the Trash at any time. This action permanently removes the board and its content, and it cannot be reversed.
