For structured data, like Mural Mind maps, the copy-paste method is the best method to avoid breaking connections.
✏️ To import to Miro, Mural content must be under a Full or Free Restricted license.
The copy-paste method is recommended for individual widgets that the PDF method does not support, or does not import with high fidelity.
Limitations of the copy-paste method involve some styling, and uploaded images, which Mural does not copy to the user clipboard.
How to copy and paste Mural objects to Miro
The following procedure explains how to copy-paste Mural content to Miro.
Ensure that you have edit access to the target board in Mural, and the destination board in Miro.
Follow these steps:
- In Mural, select the objects you want to copy.
💡 To select all objects on the board, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+A (Windows), or Cmd+A (Mac).
- To copy, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+A (Windows), or Cmd+A (Mac).
Your Mural objects are copied to your clipboard. - In Miro, to paste on your board use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V (Windows), or Cmd+V (Mac).

Copying and pasting Mural objects to Miro
Mural objects copy-paste to Miro with some variation from their original state. This section describes the expected results from some objects, and some best practices.
Areas
Areas copy-paste as Miro frames and shapes.
A Mural area with 100% transparency will show a transparent but visible border in Miro. If the area has a title, the title appears and behaves in Miro as a frame title.

Connectors
Connectors copy-paste as Miro connectors.
For connector labels, vertical and horizontal positions paste to Miro as centered. Miro only supports centered position for connector labels.
For connector types, Miro supports solid, dotted, and dashed.
Mural additionally includes the connector type loosely dashed. Miro maps all connector types pasted from Mural naturally, like solid to solid, and maps loosely dashed to dashed.
Miro supports each type of Mural connector curve, though appearance in Miro differs slightly.

GIFs & images
GIFs and images that were created from a URL can copy-paste from Mural to Miro.
✏️ A GIF or image in Mural that was uploaded or added from the toolbar cannot be copy-pasted to Miro.
Mind maps
Mind maps copy-paste as Miro Mind maps—including the root node, each child node, and text.
Styling for the root node is mostly preserved. Shape radius may differ, and text font size is not preserved from Mural to Miro.

Shapes paste as Miro shapes. Miro supports most Mural shapes.

Miro maps Sticky note color and opacity level to their nearest matches.
The following differences may also appear when you copy-paste Mural sticky notes to Miro:
- Circular sticky notes paste to Miro as square Sticky notes.
- Lists in sticky notes are not preserved. Line items do appear on separate lines.
- Text font size is not preserved. Miro Sticky notes set font size automatically.
- Rotation is not preserved.

Tables paste as Miro tables.
The following differences may appear when you copy-paste tables from Mural to Miro. For each item, you can restore your preferences manually in Miro:
- Tables on top of other objects, like areas, shapes, or images, may be partially hidden behind those objects.
- Border color is ignored. Borders paste as grey.
- Background opacity is ignored, and transparent cells are pasted as white cells. Background color is preserved.
- Text font family is ignored. Text pastes as RobertPro.
- Inline text formatting like bold and italic is ignored.

Text pastes as Miro text objects. The Mural font families are not preserved. Miro maps the Mural font family to the nearest match in Miro, and scales pasted text for best results.
