You can now export your Miro Diagrams to VSDX and open them directly in Microsoft Visio, so your work fits into your Visio-based workflows.
NOTE: Export as VSDX is currently in Beta and rolling out gradually to Enterprise organizations. The option may not yet be available in your organization. Export fidelity is still improving, and complex diagrams may need manual adjustment in Visio after export.
Export a Diagram as VSDX
- On your board, right-click the Diagram you want to export to open the context menu.
- Select Export as VSDX.
Miro generates a.VSDXfile and downloads it to your device. - Open the downloaded file in Microsoft Visio.
TIP: For the most reliable results, export diagrams built with standard Miro shapes. Custom or heavily styled shapes are more likely to need manual cleanup in Visio.
Understand what gets exported
Generally, everything inside a Diagram is exported to VSDX. Miro aims for high fidelity, but a perfect match is not guaranteed — some content types export with limitations or are not supported in Visio. For diagrams that were originally imported from Visio, some fidelity may already have been lost during import, and that carries through on export.
For a round-trip workflow — importing a Visio file, editing in Miro, then exporting back to VSDX — review the exported file in Visio and make minor adjustments as needed.

NOTE: If something is missing or looks wrong in a way not listed here, it's likely a bug worth reporting rather than expected behavior.
Known limitations
- Importing a Visio file, editing in Miro, then exporting back won't return a pixel-perfect copy of the original. Each direction is a separate rebuild, so small differences add up rather than cancel out, and anything dropped on import, stays dropped during export. See Visio import limitations.
- Some Visio view settings are preset. The file opens with the grid off and rulers and guides on. These affect display only — change them anytime from Visio's View menu.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see the Export as VSDX option?
The feature is in gradual beta rollout to Enterprise organizations. No sign-up is required — it is expected to reach all Enterprise organizations gradually. If you don't see it yet, it hasn't reached your organization.
Which diagrams can I export?
The option is available from any Diagram's context menu. Generally, all content inside a Diagram is exported, with the exceptions noted in the table above.
