Miro AI shows when AI has created or modified content on your board directly in the widget infobox, so you always know what AI touched and when. This supports transparency requirements such as the EU AI Act and the California AI Transparency Act. This feature also works alongside Miro’s Audit logs and Content logs, which record the same AI activity for admins.
How AI attribution appears
Open a widget’s infobox to see who’s contributed to it. The header lists everyone who contributed, including AI, by name and icon. Below the header, you can see attribution for actions on the widget and, in case of data tables, content. This can can include:
- Created: who created the widget or content, and when. If Miro AI created it, you’ll see Miro AI with an info icon next to the name, plus the creation timestamp.
- Last modified: the actor and timestamp of the most recent change, whether that was a person or Miro AI.
- Last AI edit: the timestamp of the most recent AI edit. This stays visible even if a person has modified the content since, so you can always see when AI last touched it.
AI attribution in Miro Platform API
Data visible in the widget infobox is also available for programmatic access via the Board Item API.
AI disclosure on media files
For AI-generated images and video files, Miro preserves original AI disclosure signatures from AI providers in file metadata. You can download the file and check its authenticity using a specialized tool or website.
Attribution on copied content
When you copy or duplicate content that was created or modified with AI, the copy also carries a Miro AI visual label in its infobox. Unlike the original widget, the label on a copy doesn’t include a specific timestamp: it’s a visual indicator that AI was involved, without a last AI edit time attached.
Limitations
- The AI label stays even if the AI-generated content is deleted. If AI-generated content is later deleted from a widget, the Miro AI attribution isn’t removed: the widget’s history still reflects that AI created or modified it.
- Assistive AI actions are labeled too. Lightweight, assistive AI actions, such as AI spelling and grammar correction, are attributed to Miro AI in the infobox the same way AI-generated content is.
