With PlantUML app, you can easily create code-based diagrams inside Miro.
How to install the app
Install the app from Miro Marketplace or by following the link.
You can also install it from the Creation toolbar:
- In the Creation bar, select Tools, Media and Integrations (+).
The Tools, Media and Integrations panel opens. - In the Tools tab, search and select PlantUML Diagrams.

If prompted, select a Miro team and click Install & authorize to complete the installation.
⚠️ Non-admin users can’t install apps if this is not allowed in team settings.
Creating diagrams and adding them to Miro boards
As soon the app is installed, you will find it on the Creation toolbar:

Open the app and enter the code to build your diagram. The app has a default sample that can be easily changed. As you change the text, the diagram is automatically refreshed in the preview area on the right panel.

You can change the size of the code editor panel by dragging it from its right edge.

To learn more about the PlantUML syntax, please refer to the official documentation. You can also quickly access PlantUML documentation from the bottom left corner of the app panel.
As you finish building your diagram, add it to the board by clicking the corresponding button. This will generate a new image on your board. You can download the image or share the board with the diagram with your collaborators.

Editing diagrams
You can also edit PlantUML diagrams directly within the Miro board.
- Click the diagram to select it
- Click the PlantUML icon in the Creation toolbar
- The PlantUML editor will open. Make your changes and click Update Diagram

You will be returned to your Miro board and your diagram will be updated
