Automations help you streamline your product management workflows by automatically performing actions based on specific triggers. Set up rules to categorize feedback, update feature status, send notifications, and generate reports without manual intervention.
Automations save time and ensure consistency by:
- Automatically categorizing incoming feedback and feature requests.
- Generating regular reports and summaries for stakeholders.
- Updating statuses based on predefined criteria.
- Sending notifications when important events occur.
- Analyzing trends and providing insights at scheduled intervals.
Creating a new automation
- Navigate to Automations from the left sidebar.
- Select Create automation.
- Configure your automation:
- Title: Give your automation a descriptive name.
- Prompt: Define what the automation should do. For example, "List the top 5 most frequently reported issues".
- Destinations: Choose where results should be sent. Currently, you can send results to Slack.
- Schedule: Set when the automation runs (manually or scheduled).
- Tag: Add tags to organize automations.
- Save Draft to review later, or Create Automation to activate immediately.
Scheduling options
Choose manual execution when you need specific insights. Perfect for ad-hoc analysis and one-time reports.
Choose regular schedules:
- Daily: For critical metrics and urgent issue monitoring.
- Weekly: For regular team updates and progress reports.
- Monthly: For broader trend analysis and strategic reviews.
Managing automations
After creating automations, you can manage them from the main Automations page.
View automation details
Each automation entry displays key information at a glance:
- Title of the automation.
- Prompt showing the specific task or query.
- Destinations where results are delivered.
- When indicating how often it runs.
- Status showing if it's "Active", "Paused", or "Draft".
- Owner indicating who created it.
- Created date for tracking.
- Tags for organization.
- Last run showing the most recent execution time.
Control automation execution
You have several options to manage each automation. To manage an automation:
- Click the automation Title to open its details.
- Use the following controls:
- Trigger now: Run an automation immediately regardless of schedule.
- Pause Automation: Temporarily stop an automation.
- Activate Automation: Reactivate a paused automation.
- Edit: Modify automation settings and configuration.
Delete automations
To remove an automation:
- Click the automation Title to open its details.
- Select the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Choose Delete and confirm the action.
