Disable a label

Disabling (deactivating) a label stops it from being used to scan boards, without permanently deleting the label or its configuration. A disabled label keeps its settings, so you can reactivate it at any time.

• ✏️ You can't disable a label that's currently used in a classification. If you try, Miro blocks the action until you remove the label from classification. See below.
• Built-in labels can be disabled but not deleted. Custom labels can be disabled or deleted. See Delete a label.

Disable a label that isn't used in a classification

1. Click your profile avatar, and then click Admin console.
2. On the left sidebar, click Enterprise Guard, and then click Data discovery.
3. Find the label you want to disable. Use the Custom filter (alongside Privacy-related and Business-sensitive) to show only labels created by your organization.
4. On the Data discovery page, on the Sensitive content detection tab, click the vertical three dots on the row of the label, and then click Deactivate board scanning.
5. The label's status changes to Inactive. To turn it back on later, click the same vertical three dots, and then click Activate board scanning.

Disable a label that's used in a classification

✏️ Miro blocks deactivation until you remove the label from classification and review the impact. If you try anyway, you'll need to confirm you've completed those steps before Deactivate anyway becomes available.

Step 1: Remove the label from classification

1. Go to Classification → Configuration.
2. Open the Define auto-classification step.
3. Untick the label you want to disable.
4. Review the impact shown on the last step, and apply the change if it looks correct.
   If the impact doesn't look right, consider replacing the label instead of removing it entirely. See Replace a label.

Step 2: Disable the label

1. Click your profile avatar, and then click Admin console.
2. On the left sidebar, click Enterprise Guard, and then click Data discovery.
3. On the Data discovery page, on the Sensitive content detection tab, click the vertical three dots on the row of the label, and then click Deactivate board scanning.
