Prevent objects from being accidentally moved, edited, or deleted by locking them on your Miro board. Editors who were invited to a board via email or have access because they are part of a project or team can lock and unlock objects.
For extra protection, board owners and co-owners on paid or Education plans can use Protected Lock. This feature ensures that only the board owner or co-owner who locked an item can unlock it, preventing other editors from accidentally moving or deleting important content.
⚠️ Visitors are not able to lock or unlock objects on the board. Content within tables, Kanban boards, mind maps, user story maps, and swimlanes also cannot be locked.
Lock and unlock objects
You can lock and unlock single or multiple objects on your board.
To lock an object, select it and click the Lock icon on the context menu. Alternatively, use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + L (for Windows) or Cmd + Shift + L (for Mac). On mobile, the Lock option can be accessed through the vertical three dots () menu after tapping on an object.

To lock multiple objects, select the relevant objects, then click the Lock icon in the context menu or use the keyboard shortcut.
To unlock an object, long-press the Lock icon on the context menu. You can also use the same shortcut again, or right-click the object and choose Unlock.
✏️ If an object has a protected lock enabled, only the board owner or co-owner who locked it can unlock it.

To unlock all objects on the board at once, right-click a blank area of the board and select Unlock all. You can also click the three dots on any locked object's context menu and choose the same option.
✏️ Protected lock items won't be unlocked unless you are the board owner or co-owner who enabled the lock.

Use protected lock to prevent other collaborators from unlocking important board content.
To enable protected lock, first lock an item as usual. Then, click the shield icon that appears on the context menu. Once the shield is active, other people on the board will not be able to unlock the object. You can disable the Protected Lock at any time by unlocking the item yourself.

What collaborators see
Objects with a protected lock appear differently to other collaborators on the board. For other users, the option to unlock the object is unavailable, and a message shows that the item is protected by the board owner.
