A Miro board is an online workspace that you can use to visualize your ideas and work on projects either individually or with a team.

When you join Miro your first board is automatically created and is saved either in your own free team or in the team you’ve been invited to. You can find it under your dashboard, titled My First Board.
How to create a Miro board
You can create as many new boards as you wish from your dashboard or right from your browser address bar.
How to create a board from the dashboard
To create a board from the dashboard, follow these steps:
- Open your dashboard.
- If you're a member of several teams, choose which team you want to save your board to.
- To create a board in a particular space, open the space.
- Click + Create new.
A menu opens. - Click Board.
A new board is created.
You have successfully created a new board from the Miro dashboard.
How to create a board from a template
To create a board from a template, follow these steps:
- Click on + Create new on your dashboard.
A menu opens. - Click on Explore templates.
The template picker opens. - Browse or search for a relevant template.
- Click on Use template to open a new board with the template. Alternatively, click on Preview to view more information about the template.
- From the template preview, you can click Use template to open a new board with the template.
You have successfully created a new board using a template.
Create a board from the browser address bar
To create a board from the browser address bar, follow these steps:
- Type miro.new in the browser address bar.
A new board will open in your browser window. - If you’re a member of multiple teams, choose which team you want to save your board to by clicking Switch team.
- If you’re not logged in, you'll be prompted to log in before the new board opens.
You have successfully created a new board from your browser address bar.
Troubleshooting: Why can’t I create a board?
There are three possible reasons you might not be able to create a board: you aren't a team member, you don't have the correct license type, or your team settings prevent it.
- You’re a guest in the team and therefore can’t create new content. Ask the board owner to join the team or try joining the team from your dashboard.
- You’re not yet a member of a Miro team. To create your own Miro team click the plus icon in the sidebar of your dashboard.
- You were invited to a board without being invited to the team. Click Ask to join team to create a new board in that team.
You’re a member of an Enterprise plan and can’t create boards because you have a Free Restricted license. To create boards, request edit access and ask your Company Admin to convert you to a full license.
You’re a member of an Enterprise plan team and can’t create boards because your Company Admin has restricted content creation in your team settings. To create boards, ask your Company Admin to grant you content creation rights.
