When a paid subscription period concludes and the plan expires, or if you downgrade to the Free plan, specific changes will affect your Miro environment and access to boards and features.
Subscription expiration process
Miro ensures that your work is preserved even when a subscription ends. The following sections outline what to expect when a subscription expires.
Dashboard notification
Upon expiration of the paid period, you will see a notification on your Miro dashboard indicating that your plan has expired.
General state at expiration
When your subscription expires, your plan is paused and enters a view-only mode. Your boards and data are not lost. You can choose to renew the subscription or select a different plan at your convenience to restore full functionality.
Subscription association
A Miro subscription is associated with a specific team, not an individual user profile. Therefore, the expiration of a subscription impacts the team where the subscription was active and all the boards located within that team.
Impact on multi-team members
If you are a member of multiple teams, for example a personal Free team and a corporate paid team, and the corporate team’s subscription expires or is paused, your access to other teams, such as your Free team, remains unaffected.
You can continue working in your active Free team and may be able to move boards from the expired team if you have the necessary permissions and the target team's plan supports it.
Failed automatic renewal process
If an automatic renewal payment for your subscription is not successful on the scheduled date, Miro will make further attempts to charge the payment method on file. These attempts typically occur 1, 7, and 14 days after the initial failed attempt.
During this 14-day period of renewal attempts, your team will generally remain active to prevent disruption to your workflow.
If the renewal charge is not successful after these attempts, the subscription will be canceled, and the team will expire, transitioning to a view-only state as described above.
Information for non-admin users
If you are a member of a team with an expired subscription but do not have Admin or Billing Admin rights, you will see a message prompting you to contact your administrator to manage the subscription.
All administrators for your team can be found in the Active Users section of your team or company settings.
