Talktrack board recordings

Collaborate asynchronously in a more inclusive and efficient way than ever before with Miro Talktrack. Record an immersive audio or video walkthrough of a Miro board and leave it for other teammates to review. Your collaborators will be able to interact with Talktrack board recordings by navigating through the board.

Whether or not you have a Miro plan and regardless of your plan type, you can watch any Talktracks shared with you.

Best practices

Consider these tips and tricks before creating your Talktrack:

• Refrain from clicking or interacting with board items while recording (e.g. click to play video, click to open document)
  This isn't a screen recording but rather the recording of your movements across the board. Your interactions with the board will not be captured.
  
  
• Be careful with significant board edits after recording
  When the viewer plays the Talktrack, they will see the updated content on the board. However they will still be able to access the original version of the recording. 
  
  
• Consider locking your frames
  Especially the ones you don't want to be altered. Or at least remind your viewers not to move things that shouldn't be moved.
  
  
• Pro-tip: Reserve frames for input
  Rather than asking viewers to add stuff on top of recorded screens, make a frame reserved for their input. It will reduce confusion for other viewers
  
  
• Be mindful of recording duration
  Try to keep board recordings at 45 minutes or less for optimal viewing/ board loading performance.

✏️ When users duplicate a board, any Talktracks will also be duplicated to the new board.

How to create a Talktrack

Who can do it: board owners, co-owners, editors and commenters

✏️ On Free Plans, users can each record up to 5 Talktracks.

You can create a Talktrack from the collaboration toolbar in the top-right corner of the board.

1. Click Video icon and then Record Talktrack button.

2. A side panel with recording options will appear.
3. Your camera and microphone will be enabled by default. You can disable the camera or microphone or select another camera and microphone.
4. Click Start recording.

5. While recording, you'll see a toolbar in the top-right corner. You can delete, restart, or pause the Talktrack, or click Stop to finish recording.

6. After you finish recording, the Talktrack will appear in the panel on the right, and a shortcut will be automatically added to the board. Users can click the Play button on a Talktrack shortcut to start watching immediately. Reposition Talktrack shortcuts by clicking and dragging them. 
   
   You can also manually add a Talktrack shortcut to the board later. Simply open the Talktrack panel, click the three dot (...) menu next to the Talktrack, and select Add to board.

7. You can rename the Talktrack by clicking the three dots (...) and selecting Rename.
8. Copy the link to the Talktrack and send it to your collaborators. As soon as they follow the link, the board will open, and the Talktrack will launch for them automatically.
9. Board owners can also drag and drop Talktracks to rearrange the order of the recordings in the panel.

Viewer analytics

Find out who watched your Talktrack recording. Click the Watch Talktracks button under the Video icon on Collaboration toolbar, navigate to the recording, and click the eye icon to see the list of viewers.

Playing the Talktrack

Available on: desktop browser, desktop app, mobile app

Anyone (including unregistered users) with access to the board can watch the board Talktracks.

There are two ways to play a Talktrack:

1. By following the direct link to a Talktrack. 
2. By clicking the Video icon on the collaboration toolbar. Then click on the Watch Recordings button. If there are new recordings since you last visited the board, you will see a blue dot above the icon. Any board collaborator can copy links to Talktracks.

Playback controls

The playback experience is interactive: at playback you’re following the recorder's view, but you can also pan around the board and make edits. 

To return to the recorder’s view, click Return to [user’s first name] at the bottom of the screen.

Viewers can skip forward and rewind 10 seconds when watching a Talktrack. And when multiple Talktracks are available, you can simply click Next from the player menu to watch the next Talktrack. To watch the Talktrack faster or slower, select different playback speeds in playback mode on the toolbar. Viewers can also turn on Closed Captioning from the playback settings. 

Talktrack reactions

Viewers can instantly provide feedback on specific moments of a Talktrack by using emojis. In the playback toolbar, simply click on an emoji to react directly on the recording timeline. Talktrack reactions visually highlight important or notable moments within the Talktrack, for a collaborative viewing experience. 

Playing the original version of a Talktrack

⚠️ Any content that was on the board at the time of the TalkTrack recording will still be visible to viewers through this feature, even if you have since deleted it. 

Sometimes board content is moved, changed or deleted after a Talktrack recording is made.

To view a Talktrack recording with the original board content:

1. Start playing a Talktrack
2. In the playback controls panel, click the Playback settings icon
3. Click Watch on original board
4. A pop-up window will appear with the original version of the recording. Within the pop-up window, you can play the recording and move around the board, however you will not be able to edit the board content.

Playing a Talktrack during a presentation

Play a previously recorded Talktrack in Interactive Presentation Mode. Even when a presenter can't make it to the meeting, they can still present ideas async to the team.

1. While in presentation mode, go to the presenter toolbar at the bottom of your screen
2. Click Timer, voting and tools
3. Select Talktrack
4. The Talktrack panel will open

Adding a Talktrack in Coda, Notion, and Productboard

Embed your Talktrack presentations directly within Coda, Notion, and Productboard for enhanced collaborative work and presentation flow. Viewers can directly watch and interact with the Talktrack without leaving the platform, streamlining the sharing and viewing experience.

Copy the Talktrack link in Miro:

1. Open the board where your Talktrack is located.
2. Click on the Talktrack button under Present in the collaboration toolbar.
3. The Talktrack panel will open on the right side of your board.
4. Within the panel, locate the Talktrack you wish to share.
5. Click on the Share option next to the Talktrack.
6. The Talktrack link will be copied to your clipboard.

Paste the link into your desired platform:

1. Open the Coda, Notion, or Productboard page where you want to add the Talktrack.
2. Find a text field where you wish to insert the Talktrack.
3. Paste the copied Talktrack link directly into the text field.
4. Depending on the platform (Coda, Notion, or Productboard), several options may appear after pasting the link. Select the option to embed the content.
5. Once embedded, the Talktrack will appear in playback view, allowing viewers to play it directly from the embedded Miro board on the page.
