Sidekicks are AI agents in Miro. They act as conversational teammates and 1:1 thought partners, helping teams tackle problems and enhance exploratory work.
Key features
- Thought Partners, Not Just Task Executers: Sidekicks observe context, notice patterns, challenge assumptions, and suggest improvements to actively help teams work through problems.
- Visible on the Board: Sidekicks have a visible presence on the board via the cursor, making them an integrated part of your workflow.
- Contextual Assistance: Add context to chats from board objects, creating dynamic prompts that are directly connected to the canvas.
- Proactive Suggestions: Sidekicks can proactively suggest ways to improve or expand your work using asynchronous comments that you can apply with a single click.
- Asynchronous Collaboration: Sidekicks respond to @mentions, making them a natural part of your team's async communication.
Miro's built-in Sidekicks
When you enable Miro AI Mode, you’ll get an AI prompt box on the Canvas when you create a new board, with the option to Explore Sidekicks at the bottom.
If you’re not in AI Mode, a general-purpose Sidekick will open when you click the Create with AI icon. This Sidekick can collaborate and help you think through problems, create content (such as Slides or Docs), and use the canvas as a prompt for actions. It also has pre-defined actions that pop up based on the context of your board.
In addition to the default Sidekick, Miro offers a variety of specialized assistants designed for specific tasks. Some of the Sidekicks available include:
- UX Researcher Sidekick: Plan studies, collect data, and uncover user insights.
- Product Leader Sidekick: Challenge your product thinking and connect plans for greater impact.
- Workshop Planner Sidekick: Create workshop boards that are customized to your team or client's goals.
- Software Architecture Sidekick: Encourages earlier feedback and better design system decisions while creating alignment between product requirements and technical implementation.
Create your own Sidekicks
Team members can create their own specialized Sidekicks with custom instructions and company knowledge, then share them across their organization to align on ways of working or share best practices.
To create a custom Sidekick, you'll need to provide:
- Name and Description: So other team members understand what your Sidekick is for.
- Instructions: You can use AI to improve the instructions as you write them.
- Conversation Starters: Guide users through the Sidekick's prompts to get the best output. AI can also help you generate these.
For more advanced functions, you can select the AI model and include specific knowledge sources to fine-tune your Sidekick's capabilities.
Sidekicks are transparent and inspectable. You can view the author and capabilities for Sidekicks on your team.
✏️ While Sidekicks are inspectable by default, you can block others from seeing or cloning the instructions for any Sidekicks you create in the Sidekick's settings.
