How upgrades work
Miro plans are flexible, which means you can upgrade or downgrade at any time. When you upgrade, you're upgrading a team. That's because Miro plans are tied to a team, not a profile.
Team is a collection of boards and projects. You can be a member of multiple teams by creating your own or by being invited to teams from other Miro users. You can create new teams, view all your current teams, and switch between teams on the left side of your dashboard. You can upgrade a team to unlock additional features and sharing settings, and invite team members for enhanced collaboration.
Profile is your email address. Any team you create or are invited to is connected to your profile.

What happens after upgrading your plan
As soon as you complete the purchase, your team will be upgraded and you’ll receive a payment receipt to your email address and within your billing settings.
After upgrading, the person who purchased the subscription is promoted to Billing Admin. The Billing Admin is the cardholder and pays for the subscription. They have access to Billing settings as long as they're a member of the team. Billing Admins can add or remove seats (licenses), cancel and reactivate the subscription, as well as request refunds.
If you upgrade a paid team, for example Starter to Business, a new billing period will begin and you’ll receive a new invoice. The prorated amount for any unused time on your previous plan will be deducted from your new invoice. If you upgrade with self-serve invoicing, the invoice will be sent within an hour to your billing email.

✏️ If you encounter issues while upgrading, try our troubleshooting steps.
Create a new paid team
If you prefer to upgrade a new team instead of an existing team, click the plus icon on the left sidebar of your dashboard and follow the How to upgrade steps above. If you're not a member of any Miro team (if you're a guest in someone's team or if you've left/deleted all of your teams), a new free team will be created for you. You can upgrade it to a paid plan. You’ll be able to move your boards to the newly created team. Enterprise plan members don't have the option to create a new team on their dashboards but can do this from the pricing page as long as it’s not restricted in the Domain control settings.

Request an Education plan
Staff members and students of educational institutions can apply for our free Education plan. Once your application is approved, you’ll receive an email notification. If you're a student and an admin for one Miro team with 10 members (or less), the team will be converted to an Education plan. If you're a teacher and an admin for one Miro team with 100 members (or less), the team will be converted to an Education plan. In other cases, a new Education team will be created in your profile. You can find your Education plan team on the left sidebar of your dashboard. You’ll be able to move your boards to the newly created team.
