Intelligent Canvas 2.0 turns Miro into a single shared surface where people and AI agents create together. It adds smarter Sidekicks and Flows, Connectors to the tools you already use, higher-quality AI output, and simpler navigation.
Key features
Intelligent Canvas 2.0 includes the following key features:
- Agentic Sidekicks and Flows that use advanced tools, plan and execute multi-step work, and build complex boards.
- Connectors that pull content from, and push actions to, tools like Jira, Slack, Confluence, and Google Drive.
- A rebuilt AI engine that works directly in native formats, so content holds up across edits.
- A canvas-first Sidekick chat that opens over your board.
- A redesigned Home and sidebar for consistent navigation.
Sidekicks
Sidekicks now understand more of your work, remember your conversations, and complete more steps autonomously.
- Board understanding: Sidekicks understand what's on the board without having to select specific parts. Ask a Sidekick to work with your content, and it knows what you mean.
- Longer memory: Conversations no longer lose the thread after 20 or 30 messages, so Sidekicks can take on harder problems.
- Clarifying questions: When a request is unclear, a Sidekick can ask a question with options to pick from instead of guessing.
- Multi-step planning: Sidekicks break a task into a plan and complete it step by step, building on each step.
- Edits in place: Point at an artifact and ask for a change. The change appears directly on the canvas.
- Dictation: Speak instead of typing in both Sidekicks and Flows.
- Connectors: Pull context from connected tools and trigger actions in them from a Sidekick conversation. See Connectors.
NOTE: You can watch a Sidekick, or a third-party agent connected through MCP, move around the canvas with an AI cursor, the way a human collaborator would.
New Sidekick chat
The Sidekick interface is now canvas-first, so your eyes stay on your content while you work with AI.
- Chat over the canvas: Select the prompt bar at the bottom of the board to open a full chat over the canvas. You can watch content generate behind the chat. Chat windows are resizable and see-through.
- Easier chat management: Use the previous-chat dropdown to find older conversations. Starting a new chat and exploring a custom Sidekick are now one flow. See Miro AI board layout with Sidekicks and Flows.
- One Explore menu: Skills, formats, connectors, and brand themes are in a single menu with type-ahead search.
- Slash command: Type / in the prompt to pick a skill, format, or connector.
NOTE: The side panel button in the upper-right corner of the board has been removed. To turn off AI inputs on the board for users who don't want to use them, use the Sparkle button.
Flows
Flows can now update existing work and reach outside the board.
- Iterate on existing board objects: Flows update only what needs to change instead of regenerating everything from scratch.
- Act in other tools: Use the Instruction block to send a Slack message, create a Jira ticket, or trigger another outbound action.
- Use Connectors: Pull context from tools like Jira, Slack, Confluence, and Google Drive into a Flow.
- Search the web automatically: Every format can now pull in current information as it runs.
Connectors
Connectors let Miro pull from and push to the tools you already use. They work in both Sidekicks and Flows. For setup and supported tools, see Connectors for Miro AI.
- Pull content in: Bring context from systems like Jira, Slack, Confluence, and Google Drive onto your board.
- Trigger actions out: Send actions back to those tools, such as posting a message or creating a ticket.
Home, Spaces, and navigation
Navigation is now consistent wherever you land in Miro.
- Home: Opens to what you worked on last.
- Browse: Brings every board, Space, and recording together in one place, with filtering and sorting.
- Sidebar: One persistent sidebar appears everywhere, with a content tree inside Spaces.
- Groups: Pin and reorder your most important Spaces.
- Emojis: Add an emoji to a board or Space. It also appears in the browser tab.
Cursor chat
Share quick thoughts with people on your board without adding content or leaving the canvas. Your message appears next to your cursor in real time.
- Start typing: With nothing selected, type on the canvas, press / or ,, or right-click an empty area and select Start cursor chat.
- Reactions: Some words, such as "congrats" or "wow", trigger an emoji animation on everyone's screen.
- Temporary: Messages aren't saved. They don't appear in the board, version history, or exports.
For the full list of triggers and who can send messages, see Cursor chat.
AI quality and Format support
Miro rebuilt the engine that reads and writes the canvas. It now works directly in native formats: SVG, Markdown, Mermaid, CSV, and HTML. As a result:
- You can tell the AI exactly what to change, down to the position or color of a single sticky note, and only that changes.
- Content lands directly on the canvas. There's no Apply to canvas step.
Diagrams
Diagrams are now generated in native Mermaid instead of assembled from shapes. Creation is faster and higher fidelity, and changes are predictable because you're editing structured Markdown underneath.
HTML Prototypes & embed
AI now generates prototypes in HTML instead of freeform shapes. HTML prototypes include full interactivity and effects, so they look like a finished product rather than a sketch. You can also embed an HTML file to render and you interact with your prototype on the Miro canvas. Convert the embed into a Miro HTML prototype and continue to develop the artefact.
You can edit an HTML prototype in two ways:
- Use the built-in visual editor to rearrange and edit it directly.
- Keep iterating with AI.
To turn an HTML prototype back into a freeform prototype, convert it with one click.
For more on prototyping, see Miro Prototypes overview.
Skill library
Skills turn common use cases, including workshops, roadmaps, process maps, org charts, user journeys, and project plans, into reusable best practices. Unlike static templates, a skill reads your board and what you've already done in the session, and it can use Connectors to pull in information from outside apps.
A pre-defined set of curated Miro Skills can help you get started.
