While working on the board, you may need to quickly notify someone about the changes you’re making. You can do that by simply @mentioning them in a comment.
The team mentioned in a comment
Mentions available on the board
You can mention somebody on the board in comments if the board is shared with them. It can be:
- explicitly shared with the user who needs to be mentioned
- shared with the project
- shared with the whole team
⚠️ Visitors cannot mention other users.
⚠️ Guests do not receive email notifications about mentions.
Types of mentions
@user notifies a particular person directly
@board notifies everyone this board is shared explicitly with
@project notifies project members
@team notifies all your team
- Use @ followed by the collaborator’s name when you need to reach out to a few team members you know exactly and don't want to bother anyone else. When to use @user:
- Ask an editor to provide more details
- Pass your work for review to a team member once you are done
- Reach an expert from your team in a field you are currently working on
✏️ If a user name is not listed when you try to mention them in a comment, please be sure to invite them to the board via email, or to the team (if the board is team shared), or to the project (if the board belongs to a project)
- Use @board when working with a group of team members from different teams or projects. When to use @board:
- Ask for inputs from all participants
- Request feedback after a meeting
- Tell about significant updates on a board
✏️ Note: @board doesn't include your project or team members if a board is not shared with them. Combine @board and @project for more complex cases!
- Use @project when working on a board from a project (if available in your plan) and attention from all project team is required. When to use @project:
- Ask project status updates
- Update a project team about a change in deadlines
- Introduce a new project team member working on a specific part
💡 Combine @project and direct mentions to get insights from the cross-functional team
- Use @team for team shared boards to let everyone know about a particular request. When to use @team:
- Invite everyone to comment on general strategy
- Collect feedback on organizational structure and process blueprint
- Ask everyone for inputs during team-wide ideation
