Invite people outside your organization (clients or partners) to collaborate safely on one or more boards without needing to invite them to your team. Guests (previously non-team users) are required to sign in and when added to your board(s), have access to many features of your paid Miro plan and continued access to shared boards in their dashboard. Adding guests is free of charge and there is no limit to the number of guests you can add.
Once you share a board with a guest, they will continue to have access to the boards you shared with them on their dashboard, perfect for meetings & workshops or consultancy projects. Their access to boards does not expire unless you remove them.
Available for: Consultant, Business plans and Enterprise plan (to enable the feature to invite guests with edit access to your Enterprise account, reach out to your Customer Success Manager)
On Team and Education plans, guests can only be viewers or commenters
βοΈ Note that this feature is currently in beta for Consultant and Business plans. The offer and its availability may update in the future.
π‘ For one-time collaborations, invited via a public link please use visitors.
For external & occasional collaboration, please use guests.
For frequent and ongoing collaboration, please use members.
Why invite guests?
Invite guests to work on one or more boards for long-term projects without needing to invite them to the team and give them access to all your team boards. If you invite guests, you no longer have to share boards publicly as this allows you to work on single or multiple boards in a safe and secure way. Guests will also have access to your paid plan features and can collaborate using tools like voting/timer/video chat and other Consultant, Business, or Enterprise plan features.
How do you enable/disable guests for your account?
Guests are automatically enabled, to disable/enable follow the steps below.
For Consultant and Enterprise plan
- Open settings of the team you want to enable guests on. Note that guests are enabled/disabled in Team settings, not in Company settings.
- Go to Permissions and scroll down to Invitation settings.
- Under the Guests section choose between Donβt allow or Allow.

How to invite guests?
- To invite a guest, enter their email in the board sharing window and select their permission level (editing, commenting, or viewing). Note that guests can only be invited to particular boards, you cannot invite a guest from Team settings.
- When editing is selected, choose to add as Guest. Please note, that guests must be signed into Miro in order to access shared boards. This way they will see your team on their dashboard with only the boards that you add them to.
Inviting a guest
On Enterprise plan, if guests with edit access are enabled, you will see the following pop-up. Choose Add them to thisboard only. If non-admin users are not allowed to invite new members but guests are allowed in the team invitation settings, the pop-up will not be shown to non-admin members, but users invited to boards by non-admin members will be automatically added as guests.

βοΈ Boards can be public or private when sharing with guests.
β οΈ We are currently testing this role, if you encounter any troubles or would like to provide feedback on your experience, please contact Miro Support.
How does it work for you?
Guests will collaborate on shared boards under their real names as they are registered in Miro. As a result, you will be able to see their activity and they will be notified when they are tagged in comments, making your work together more visible and collaborative.
Guests are also visible in your account under Company or Team settings > Active users, as well as on your board sharing settings, where guests will also have a badge to identify them as such. Making it easy to see who has access to what.

- Collaborative functionalities (e.g. start video chat session)
- Ability to view & restore board content through the activity list
- Mention other users in comments
- Lock/unlock objects on the boards
- Access to your team installed applications
Guests can NOT:

- Share with new people & change board sharing settings
- Perform actions or change the settings of the team dashboard. On their dashboard, they will only see and access boards shared with them
- View/Access team members and team boards
Guests will see the shared boards on their dashboard but cannot create their own boards in your team. Guests can request access to your team by clicking the corresponding button.

Ultimately, guests are perfect for occasional collaboration on specific private boards and allow you to give access to your content to a registered user and revoke their access at any moment. While visitors are perfect for quickly sharing or a one-off brainstorm session and give you the opportunity to immediately start a collaboration session with all people who have the board link.
