Learn how board permissions and sharing settings work in Miro - the guide will be helpful if you need to work on an individual project or would like to prepare a board before sharing it with your team or clients.
⚠️ Note that private boards are not supported on Free plan. Every board that you create in a free team gets automatically shared with all team members.
Available for: Team, Consultant, Business, Enterprise, and Education plans
Step 1 (for Team and Company Admins only).
If you're the Team/Company Admin, you can configure default sharing settings for newly created boards. Go to Team settings > Permissions > Sharing settings. Choose Only board owner can access under Default settings for board sharing. You can also configure Project sharing settings there.

Step 2.
Make sure the board is not going to be created in a shared project. If the board is located in a project, it automatically gets shared with all project members. Before creating a board, switch to Boards in this team tab to make sure that the board will not get into a specific project shared with other team members.
✏️ If you have a private project (not shared with anyone), feel free to create your board there.

Step 3.
If you're not the Team Admin or if you haven't configured default sharing settings as mentioned in Step 1, open the Share menu of your newly created board and check the board settings. Here you can see whether your board is shared with the whole team and choose No Access if it is.
✏️ If you need to make an existing board private, check this guide. Note: if the board does not belong to you, you may need to invite your own email prior to changing team access.
