Learn how to regain control over your Miro account and grant Admin rights to another user if your current Miro Admin is no longer available.
Relevant for: Paid plans
⚠️ To regain access to a Miro account, the new admin should already be a member of the team, and the email domains for both the new admin and the previous admin should belong to the same company that the authorized official represents.
Get access to the Miro Admin’s email account
Contact your IT Department and ask them to grant you access to the email account of the Miro Admin who left. When you gain access to the Admin's email account, you can reset their Miro password.
Once this is done, you can then access their Miro profile and promote yourself or another user to Admin. Switch to a guide for your Miro plan below.
- Sign in to Miro with the Admin's email and updated password.
- On the team's dashboard, click the team name and select Users on the dropdown menu.
Getting to Team settings - You'll see the list of users. Click the three dots next to another user or yourself.
- Choose Grant Team Admin/Promote to TeamAdmin/Promote to Company Admin.

I can’t access the Miro Admin email account
If you can’t get access to the Admin’s email account, you can use one of the following workarounds:
- Create a new team
You can create a new team via the plus button on the left sidebar of the dashboard. You’ll have Admin permissions for this team, can invite collaborators to the new team, and move your boards to the new account. - Provide a confirmation letter
Get in touch with Miro Support and provide a document signed by an authorized official (General Counsel, C-Level or Director) confirming that we can transfer the Admin's rights over to a specific user. The format should include company letterhead, a clear statement of authorization, and acknowledgment of transfer. Please see an example of such a document. This will be verified and reviewed by the Miro team.
